Is the Private Reserve 888 ink the same as Schmidt 888
Just wondering about this because of the price difference. Thanks for the info.

Think of it like kleenex and puffs.. Both are tissues.

888 is the "model" or specifications of the size of the refill. Schmidt, Private Reserve, Monteverde (and others I'm sure) all produce refills in the 888 model.

oh... one other tip... 888 is plastic refill, 5888 is metal.

I have used both the Private Reserve 888 and Schmidt 888 refills and I personally haven't noticed any difference in quality however, I wouldn't recommend the Hauser 888 refill.
