Ive only used this Red nallee Burl a couple times, and when I finish it on the lathe it looks good, but the grain tends to raise in places later on, the wood is dry and I dont have any problems with any of the other burls.
Not sure if you can tell on this Polaris pic.
This one has a Paste wax finish.
any suggestions of what I might or might not do to help prevent this? thanks

I'm far from a finishing expert, but have you thought about sealing it better using a sanding sealer or CA before you put your paste wax on it?

This one I didnt do, was the first time with this wood and I just did a Paste wax finish.
The one's I do now I do a CA the Wax.
But I havent tried it on this wood type, Havent had any trouble from the Brown mallee or York Gum.
You think the CA would stabalize it enough so it doesnt raise up?
it has some hairline cracks in it also. When I finished it on the Lathe it looked good, it wasnt untill later I noticed the problem.
Thanks
