Re-photo, finished checkerboard

Just thought I would post the finished results, I like it more than I thought I would. I am thinking about doing a cigar with a full checkerboard. I might use a darker wood though, maybe a nice dark cocobolo & maple. Anyone know if the cocobolo will drag the color into the maple??

The chekerboard effect is great and your work is fine. I'm personally not crazy about the bulby thingy just above the center band.

Lee, Great pen! Excellent glue up! The cocobolo will bleed into the maple if you don't seal it first. What works well for me is to seal the blanks with thin CA after final turning and before I start to sand. I've done several with Bloodwood, maple and Blackwood. All with no bleed over.
