Qustion re: engraving metal

I have a client that wants initials engraved in metal portion of brass bolt action top. Can it be done with out chipping finish, and has anyone else done engraving on a bolt action?

Sorry for the horrible picture, it was an after thought. But I had this one laser engraved on the chrome and it turned out perfect.

I am what you would call a hobby engraver, the guy that that can butcher a piece of metal cutting names etc., on it. My thoughts, the plating on most kits are not good enough for metal. I did a name on a real Cross Pen a few years ago, it worked pretty good, but a Cross and a PSI pen are 2 different animals.

If you want to try, I would recommend taking a Slimline to a jewelry store that does engraving and ask them to engrave it.

Any update on this? I have a customer who wants to engrave on her gun metal bolt-action.
