This is not strictly for pens but I figured you guys would know. I just got a jet 1442 and when I do bowls and sometimes pens at a high rpm the handle that changes speeds is in the way. I can get the tool rest positioned ok but speed handle interferes with the tool handle This happens when I want to work on the back of small bowls. Anyone have this problem, did you ever encounter this Fred? Is there any way to change the position of the speed handle to where it points down instead of up?

There is a flat spot on the shaft which the handle fits into. That prevents you from putting it together wrong. That being said, there is nothing stopping you from marking a second flat spot opposite the first and flipping it over. Yup, the handle does get in the way at the 2 highest speeds. I am trying to find a way to put a shorter handle on there so it will be less of a problem.
