I am turning my first cocobolo blank and noticed several small orange color lines starting to appear - almost like a series of dashes.

Is that common to this wood? What are these areas going to look like when finished?

Thanks,

Cocobolo is a favorite of mine. One thing you should notice is that it will change as it ages (like all woods, really). When it's freshly cut, I see purple and some pink hues . As it ages, it'll go to oranges and browns. I've found that it pairs very nicely with gold and/orgun metal pens.

i bought a box of cocobolo pen blanks online and was kinda disapointed when i opened it to see a couple hundred red/brown blanks, till i started turning, its now one of my favorites. it will range from chocolate brown to orange and everything in between.
