I have a client who wants one of the pens I have in stock but wants it engraved. I have not had anything engraved and am wondering on the process. The pen is Koa wood with a CA finish.

Should I remove the CA finish to have the pen engraved or is it acceptable for the engraver to engrave through the CA?

If the latter option, would it then be best to go back and add more CA to make it all flush/smooth or leave it so they can feel the edges of the engraving?

Woodturninz has done several for me. Leave the CA on - they engrave finished pens - no need to do anything to it after they engrave it.
I have also used local engravers who have a laser but there something comforting about going with people who specialize in pens!

No need to remove the CA. You can put more coats on after engraving if you want to bring the engraving flush. You should put at least one coat of thin CA to seal the engraving.
