Question about a Woodcraft kit

I picked up a couple of Retro kits a couple of weeks ago. It's similar to the Executive some of you are making. I think thats a PSI kit? Anyway the main difference is the Retro has 2 tubes and a CB but extends the refill by twisting the finial.(if the instructions are right) I was fooling around with the parts and see no reason it couldn't be made just like the Executive with one long tube. Has anyone made any of these?

i did exactly that just last week, made the retro with no centerband. got the pics added.

Thanks Bob, I figured it'd work that way, just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something
