Does any one have the proper way to sharpen the PSI Versa-Chisel (Spindelmaster Clone). Do you shapen the bevel or the flat top like PSI claims.
My wife wanted these after a pretty interesting catch when I was showing her how to use a skew. She saw in some turning book that these are easier to use. Kind of looks like a scraper to me.

I'm probably in the minority but I'm a big fan of the versa-chisel.
When I first bought mine I was told by an "expert" to just run a flat diamond stone across the flat top. I did that for a while and then got frustrated by how dull it was. Since then, I've been sharpening the bevel, freehand, on my sharpening wheel. What a difference!
Just my way of doing it. Your mileage may very.

Ahem, ahem ..... I would always take Chris' advice over mine. Seriously. [:)]

I'm pretty new to this but so far honing the top with a diamond stone has worked very well for me. Just be careful not to roll the edges. It takes a lot to correct that little mistake.
