Anyone using a PSI mandrel saver on a Rikon lathe? How do you remove the mandrel saver from the tailstock? It will not eject with the quill fully retracted and the insrtuctions state not to use a knockout bar to remove it.

i have the same problem since its hollow and there isn't much for the knock out bar to hit (I didn't read the instructions that said you shouldn't use one)...

I plan to turn a dowel down to the ID of the tail stock...

use a small piece of scrap wood (longer than the gap between the mandrel saver and the tailstock body when fully retracted) and place it behind the mandrel saver, then retract tailstock fully.

the wood will push on the MS and the TS and push out the MS.

LOL!

I am shaking my head wondering why I didn't see how easy this would have been.

I used a small shim of molding trim and it slides right out.

Feeling stupid now!:clown:
