About 3 mos ago, I gave a Piano inlay pen to my sister. She has been happy with it until today. It seems the pen nib does not advance far enough to be usable. I have turned a few pens, but have not had this kind of problem before. Any idea how to fix this problem?

Probably the transmission that has started to screw out.
or it has been pushed in to far with use(common to the kit)

This is a likely cause.

IF the pen can still be "pulled apart", ie you have not glued the transmission to the top, then pull off the top and screw the transmission all the way down onto the "nib" section. Test the operation, if the nib now works properly, Reinstall your top (turned part and clip section) and you're "good to go"

If it does NOT work properly with the top removed, send me a PM with your address and I will send you a new transmission for the pen.

Thanks for all the tips. My sister is in NJ, so I sent this info to her and hope it will solve the problem. This forum is really great for amateurs like me. I think I have turned about 20+ pens and have a lot to learn. If nothing works, I will get another transmission.
