Price for snake skin

I found a guy in Great Falls, MT that sells rattlesnake skins for $30. I'm not sure of the length, but will stop by and look at them tomorrow. Is that expensive? How long should the skin be for $30?

A price of .75 to $1 an inch is a good price from what I've seen. Of course it depends upon what kind of snake too.

You might want to check the state laws or see if he has a license to sell. States like Mississippi don't allow selling a snake hide (been told that by wildlife agents). But I can harvest and tan my own, make it into something, and THEN sell it. Go figure....

Sounds like a very good price. Are they tanned? Don't buy raw unless they are fresh and you know how to tan.

If they ARE raw. Find out how fresh and if they've been salted. If you need tanning directions I've got some easy ones to make a nice pliable hide.

If raw I wouldn't pay more than 10 cents an inch, but that's me....
