I offered a local woodworker a free pen in exchange for some of his scraps. Along with half a dozen different kinds of wood he gave me, there was a slab of 20 year old birdseye maple like I have never seen. It was 2" x 5 " x about 18" long. I got a lot of pen blanks out of it and have used more than half of them already. Everybody that sees this wood wants a pen made from it.
I wish now that I had reserved some of it for bottle stoppers before cutting it all into pen blanks.

Beautiful Bill,Don't suppose you want to trade for some Good Old Southern Yellow Pine?
The term "old" is objective.

Nope... the birdseye maple is not up for trade. I have a ton of white aspen that I would like to trade for another bunch of maple just like that though ... Hee .. Hee ..
I don't see that happening real quick. It looks like this . No grain to be seen anywhere. Just white , white and more white [;)] Not very exciting.
