I want to try my first cast blanks. What is the differance in a poly blank and a acrylic blank? Are there texture differances, hardness, etc? Any help would be great.

as far as turning goes...theres not much difference. Some PR blanks can be more brittle than others, but that's bc of the different types of PR plus the amount of catalyst used. If you use the same style for both you shouldn't have any problems. Light cuts, sharp tools, patience, and try not to overheat the blank. Have you turned regular acrylics? If not, and your willing to cover shipping I have a number of my own home cast PR blanks that didn't turn out like I wanted and would be good for practice. So if you'd like some to try some out without worrying about screwing up send me a PM and I'll send you some.

I'm always looking for somethig in the "softer' category.

Here's a thread I started some time back that sort of talks about the same thing.
