Here is a link to an article from a free magazine I receive at work. At the bottom of the article is a gray box with a review of precious metals - a number of which are used for plating on the pens that we make. I found it to be interesting reading.

Again - scroll down to the shaded box for the information on the metals - the main part of the article is (to me) pretty boring stuff, but the Quick Facts box is interesting.
