I just tried one of these and as soon as I barely touched the blank it spun in about six pieces!
I just sharpend my tools and I have done acrylic's before and never had a problem.
Anyone else have this happend with the Penn St blanks?
Also the Blanks looked to be more Acrylic than skin, Just big enough to wrap around the tube, is this how they all are?
Just didnt look like its was going to turn out like others I have seen.
Thanks

Too bad you spent the money on these, they are way over-priced and even worse that it flew apart on you. These are cast in polyester resin which is not exactly the same as acrylic. Depending on the amount of hardener added to the mix, they can be quite brittle. I had the same trouble with some mica swirl polyester blanks from PSI and never bought any more.

The blanks will be more resin that skin and that seems to be pretty normal. Once the resin is turned to size, it doesn't look like that. But, you do have to make a somewhat fatter pen than you might otherwise make so you don't cut into the skin.
