I'm making my first closed end pen. It's using the hardware from a slimline. (Didn't want to invest to much in my first attempt)

I'd like to make a desktop holder for it. Nothing fancy, just a disk with a hole in it. My hope is that someone can suggest a way to drill a hole to fit the pen tip? My thought was to try to turn a hole, but I don't have any tools small enough. The only other thing I could think of was to try a small deep hole and a shallow bigger hole and try to match the angle of the nib.

Thanks for any suggestions

When i made my first desk pen, the base is made out of the same wood. After i turned it to the desired shape, I removet it from the lathe and drilled a small hole in the end, this way the hole will be centered in the stand. Then i returned to the lathe and parted the waste end off, leaving a small drilled hole in the center, then returned to the drill press and i drilled a 3/8 hole in mine to let the bottom part of the pen sit in. Hope this helps you out. It worked for me, Keith
