So I did something stupid the other day... but we won't get into that:redface:

I needed to get the "plunger guide" (the "finial") out of a Slimline Pro, and the tube came out of the blank with the piece still in it! The piece is just stuck in there - it refuses to come out. I even tried heating up the tube, but it still didn't come out. Anyone have any solution?

I think you are going to have to destroy the tube to get the hardware out.
Replacement tubes are not too expensive.
I'd file down the end of the tube until you get it nearly through and with a little tug it should come free.

You can wrap the bare tube with masking tape or a balloon or anything else that will give a grip. then tap the finial out using a rod and a small hammer. Tap LIGHT and FAST , as if you know it will take a hundred taps. It will come. As mentioned already. Extra tubes are the best bet, so always have 'em on hand. Happy Turning!

Try a different glue for gluing your tubes. If you are using sufficient force to dislodge the tube from the blank, and the finial stays put....

Tubes are pretty cheap and available.

Don't waste time trying to save the tube, just chuck it in a lathe and carefully turn it off of the finial.
