I have written a simple data base that keeps track of the pens I make including keeping a picture of each. Was wondering if I needed to track any other info that I am not currently tracking. See the links for a screen capture. Any suggestions welcomed. I also include a sheet for parts and one for vendors. Makes everything easy to track down and to keep totals on everything. Inventory is my next project. Have also been following the one thats being developed online mentioned here. Great Ideas also.

Now if you could come up with a way for everything to automatically add itself in so I wouldn't have to...............[}:)][}:)][}:)]

Good point. I hate to keep an inventory program updated. I just can remember to ad invoices to the Parts purchased page!

Joe,

This looks like some really useful work. Here are a few random thoughts.

You might want to consider adding fields for customizations beyond the standard kit. For example, if you made your own band or finial, made the pen with a closed end or recessed clip, or added embellishments such as stones, laser engraving, etc.

Can you select/list multiple woods for segmented pens? You may also want to include the source for the wood, acrylic, resin, etc. if this is important to be able to try and reproduce the pen.

Also, how about a description of shape, segmenting pattern, etc.

Finally, data entry can be speeded up by having the program "remember" previous entries and suggest/autocomplete fields based on entries.

Thanks Barry for those great additions I will incorporate them into my database. And it would make it easier to duplicate the pen if the need arises. I use drop down lists in most of the fields which does speed up data entry.
