I have an Amboyna Burl fountain pen that I finished with friction polish, that was used last friday. I left it at work and when I came in today I noticed a gray haze on the pen. I picked it up and it had dust on it. None of the other pens on the desk seemed to have any dust on them, some finished with friction polish, some with CA.

The desk didn't seem to have any dust on it either.

Any ideas on how/why this phenomenon is occuring?

Not to worry, the friction polish will be gone in another day or two and the dust won't stick to the wood.

Amboyna very often displays this "dust", a very thin greyish layer of some kind. I see this all the time on my blanks, this can be wiped off easily. Sometimes, I had this happen when I used friction polish, but it normally took quite some time, say months.
