I have been given some deer antler which must have a few years one it. The antler has darken in color. I would like to know if I can bleach the antler back to it's true color?

I have read on here that they bleach it with peroxcide. Do a search using antler and bleach.

Once you turn it, it should be nice and white on the inside. Leave a little bit of the darker 'bark' and you have a gorgeous pen.

It will bleach. But try turning first then adjust color if you desire.

This x-mas I was given some old antlers. Even had green algae growing on it. I turned them down and had some beautiful purple swirls in it. Left it as is and made pretty good pens. I don't bleach antler. To the folks who buy my antler pens they like the different colors, even where the marrow/middle has some texture to it.
