to be in the SOYP forum, at least I didn't think, so I thought I'd post it here. What does make this worthy of posting is the material. A co-worker is tearing down a rotting barn on his place. It has some large, hand hewn oak beams that are wormy and he gave my a few pieces of one of the beams. As I understand it, beams haven't been hand hewn in his part of the country in about 100 years. This is what I started with.

Here is a chrome Atlas I made with the fall off from a bowl I'm turning from it. I'm going to give it to him tomorrow. Dipped lacquer finish and Ren Wax.

Great job, Billy! I am making some pens from very old wood that came from church benches. I am saving some flat pieces about 1/8" x 5/8" that show the original surface of the wood. I will include one with each pen. Just an idea.
