newbie with material question...

I am very new to turning and my BIL has asked if i would turn a couple deer anter pens for him....problem is, i've never done it. my question for all of you is....do i need to stabilize or any other process the antlers first? or can i just start turning?

cut it, drill it, turn it. That's about it.

DRY it...keep tools sharp..antler is very abrasive..it stinks..have good air movement..enjoy
