Just purchased this burl on ebay and was wondering if anyone could help id it?
They really didn't know either except that he said one person thought it may be ash. But, who knows.
Thanks for any help!

Nobody has a guess?[:0]
I must have some rare form of hybrid prehistoric rockgut burl![^] Starting price will be $36 per blank shipped![:D]

Just kidding! I have no idea what this is. In fact, this is the first time I've bought anything but already cut pen blanks. Just thought I'd give it a shot.

Thanks!

My only guess is hard maple. Maybe it's more or a healing growth compared to a bud burl? You can definitely see a graft or distinctive line between the log and wound. Looks great! Have fun.

Micah,

Much as I want to help...my guess will be as good as yours (or worse). If it is ash, I will guess black ash....but it really can be anything.

Thanks guys. That at least gives me an idea!
I was thinking maybe maple, but it could be walnut or black ash...
