I'm looking to insert a state quarter into the top of a bottle stopper. Do I just epoxy it in place or use CA? Do I need to rough up the side I put the glue onor will it stick without? THanks!

I take a parting tool as the stopper is spinning and make a spiral from the center to the outside of the top. This gives the glue some working room to set in and grab the wood. As for the coin...I just use CA

Hope this helps

I have bad luck with CA on this kind of stuff, I would stick with epoxy. Expoxy seems to me has more flexibility. I did not rough up the surface of the coin but I did clean it good with acetone first. The oil on the coins can be hard to get off on some.

I recess the coin using the parting tool as Ron does. I use CA glue and it works fine. I then use a 2 part resin and hardener to put a clear finish over the quarter so it will not tarnish and it seals it as well.
