I got some of JohnnyCNC's bushings and was turning a pen today. (actually, I've turned about 4 pens with the bushings) and upon looking at the bushing. I noticed that it had some burrs in it. So I looked at the live center and saw that it was scored:

I FORGOT THAT IT WASN'T HARDENED.....

ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So make sure that when you do get centers, if you turn with a mandrel or BC. Make sure it's hardened.... Now I'm going to have to get a hardened live center. And hope that I didn't hose my bushing...

I'm more mad at myself than anything else. I should have know better....

Michael,
If you want to return the bushing (s) in question, I will check them out
and recondition if needed at no charge. I stand squarely behind my products.

Paul: re, how to know if a center is hardened.
You may need to ask at some vendors to get an idea.
Some will know, others say yes and don't have a clue probably.
In general, machining type stuff is. Wood type stuff; maybe.

(The ones I offer are advertised as such, and I use what I sell,
so you have my word on those that they are indeed hardened).
