I am getting ready to make a custom pen, and there is going to be a design engraved into it, which I would then like to fill with this red metallic inlace dust (Inlace Inlace Metal Dust | Finishing | Craft Supplies USA).

Does anybody have any experience using this stuff? What all am I going to need apart from the dust itself? Will the dust go into the engraving, but still be able to be wiped off from the "non-engraved" parts? Can you proceed to turn/sand a blank after the inlace has hardened?

Any information would be greatly appreciated!

I have not used the metal dust, but have used their crushed coral inlay, as well as embossing powder.

I simply placed a few drops of medium CA in, poured the powder through a small funnel (anything will work) with a tray under to save what dropped off.

Applied accelerant, made 1-2 more layers to be slightly proud, then turned, sanded, finished as usual.

Good Luck.
