Coming back from OK I stopped in CO for a couple of days. An old school chum mentioned her husband was a turner, so of course I had to go see his work! OMG! He isn't a pen turner, but he truly loves beautiful wood. He had turnings, chests, tables, etc all made from the most incredible figured woods.
I gave him a piece of my catalpa, since it was new to him, and he took me out to his workshop to look at his "stash". I came home with a trunkful of logs! Locust, cypress knees, osage orange, red cedar, "Pecky" cypress, sycamore, pecan, and spalted aspen. 12 pieces in all. My poor little Ford Focus was about dragging her tailpipe.
I will post pictures when I start cutting it up.
