Mediteranian Pine

My boss is returning from a month in Italy and advised that he visited a furniture factory in Sorrento. They gave him a chunk of Mediterranian Pine to bring to me. Supposedly it is a hard pine. Does anyone have any experience with this wood?

Mediterranean pine may refer to different species...
Pinus halepensis
Stone Pine

I turned a crosscut, slightly spalted aleppo pine cigar for the spring 2011 PITH:

However, i don't have much to report about the timber. Turns like any other one.

Think it is the Stone Pine. Described to me as being very tall and all of the canopy is at the very top.
