Manzanita?

okay, this may seem stupid, but I have a small manzanita that needs to come down because of power line easement. Do you think it's worth keeping for turning pens? I know that people use the roots & the burls, but what about the plain old wood itself? Does it have good grain (enough to bother with) Thanks

Remember, this is not burl or root. Just the plain wood.
I guess I'll resaw it and sticker it and see how it looks.
Does it crack a lot as it dries?

BTW,
I did search through lots of user photos and only saw BURL wood.
Does anyone have a photo of the regular manzanita?
