I looking for a custom center band tutorial. I haven't been able to find any thus far. Thanks.

One method is so easy you don't need a formal tutorial.
Turn your blank half as normal, part of a piece of it where you want the center band to go being careful to make a very straight cut (or just slightly undercut it).
take a second blank of contrasting color and drill it.
Slide in a tube without glue and use your trimmer to square up the end.
Slide the tube out and glue this new finished edge to the turned edge of your primary blank.
Cut off the excess and square up the end.
Re-turn the new segmented blank to finished dimensions.
All done.
