Any suggestions on how to get the transmission out of a Longwood pen? (without wrecking it) The cap is a little too short so it doesn't fit tight against the CB. I have a set of transfer punches similar to the Harbor Freight set talked about here but the smallest one won't fit through the nib. If I could get the tranny out I could trim the 1" long middle tube to correct my oops. I could make a ring to fit above the CB but it would be obvious that the cap was trimmed too short! One of these days I will listen to my better half -- "you're tired, leave it for tomorrow".

Edit:
Now I really feel STUPID --- after looking some more and thinking some more (sometimes unusual for me) It dawned on me (no kidding).
1) use a 1/8" punch through the transmission - knock out the nib.
2) usea a 7/32" punch through the nib end and press out the transmission.
Done.
Please forgive the temporary absence of thought.
