Default Logo over cast-resin pens (circuit board)

There was a 2009 thread on engraving circuit board pens.

End summary seemed to be:
  • Yes, you can laser engrave the cast resin pens -- they frost less than acrylic, so you really have to fill them
  • No, you probably don't want to do that -- because it could look odd to have a logo or text "floating" over the thing
  • Consider water slide decals
So, if that is the consensus ... whats the opinions on that?

E.g.,
Turn down to normal diameter, do decal, build up a polyurethane finish?
Turn down lower than normal (be careful) and recast with your own resin?
etc.

Turn down lower than normal (I would use the Sierra Vista or Wall St. III or equivalent, so I know I had room to spare). by the thickness of the decal plus a few thousandths and build back up with CA. Buff out to shine.

+1...this is the one time that a "floater" looks good!
