Anybody ever used a twist link V belt (the half inch orange twist type) on a variable speed lathe? If so, what would be the advantage or disadvantage. My concern is the V portion being able to track up and down properly in the expanding and contracting pulley. (Delta 46-715 lathe). Thanks

This has been discussed before. the manufacturer specifically discourages the use of the link belt with Reeves drive VS lathes as it results in premature wearing out of the belts. I don't think there is any not to use one if you are willing to replace them regularly; but they are awfully expensive.

Randy - Thanks for the info. Guess I will use it on my table saw or something else. Received it as a "promotional" item from a friend who sells belts and bearings, etc.
