I posted a couple of rope twist pens on my albumn. I use the Legacy Ornamental Milling Machine. I start with slimline kits and use 3/4 square blanks. You bring in the router bit to the depth of the bushing, engage the lead screw and turn the crank. One pass has worked just fine making a "climb" cut direction with the router. I then take the mandrel out with the blanks on, take it to the mini lathe and sand. You have to wrap the paper into a small tube and follow the bottom of the twist by hand. Turn on the lathe, final sand and put on the finish. It's is quicker than turning, but open your billfold wide!
