lath size

I have a delta midi lath, it is 6 inched from the center of the live center to the bottom on the lathe. Looking to buy a cole chuck for my mine nova chuck(js20n) it said you need 8 inch minimum. Do I have 6 inches or 12 inches of clearance.

12". 6" is the radius of the largest circle you can handle on your lathe.

You should have a model number...1642, 1014 that could indicate what the overall diameter your lathe can handle. Call Nova and see what they say!
