Spend some major $ on a nice laser engraver with the attachment to engrave round objects and then spend seemingly forever learning how to work it right.

Lol! That is the truth all right. I'm getting good results with my engraver on flat work, but still have some repeatability issues with the rotary attachment. It definitely is a learning experience.

More to the topic, however, the Sawmill Creek woodworkers site has a good "Laser Engravers" forum at http://www.sawmillcreek.org/forumdisplay.php?f=8. There's lots of useful information there and it helped me get started.

I totally agree with Eric. Sawmill Creek is the place to go to get great info about most aspects of laser engraving. The forum is constantly monitored by reps from most of the major laser engraving companies.
