I need some sinker wood for a special order. Hopefully it is some type of hardwood with a little grain character and is ready to use.

If you need more than a pen blank or two, there is a place in Ashland, WI, called Timeless Timber. I believe there was an article in one of the wood magazines about them several years back. Rode by it a few weeks ago, an they looked to be doing a decent business. Try Google-ing them.

I have some beech and birch from Timeless Timbers. I'll get some out tomorrow and post a pic. The birch has something like 50 growth rings per inch if I remember correctly. It has a bit of flame figure, but don't know if it will come across in the pen blanks. I did a conference table with the birch, probably 20 years ago. A couple of layers of 8/4 on the floor of my van was $1100. What I have is left overs. The guy gave me the beech(after buying $1100 of birch, LOL). It had some bark inclusions and may make some pretty cool pens.
