Jr. Gent Question

I just finished a Jr. Gent in Ti Gold. The threads on the cap work on the receiving end of the nib coupler, but they do not work on the end coupler (ie, it doesn't post). The threads do not catch. I looked at the threads inside the center band coupler, and they appear to be recessed more than on other couplers that I have. Did I do something wrong in assembly or is the piece just bad?

About 6 months ago they changed the threads from a rounded thread to a flat thread in attempt to keep them from untreading. I'm wondering if perhaps you have the male threads of the 2 different types.
