Has anyone ever used Jade in turning before? I am heading out for another enforced trip to New Zealand to try and fix my visa and I can get some good jade pieces there.

I know that I could use broken jade pieces for insets, but I am thinking about doing bands and stuff like that.

Never have, but NZ Greenstone (which I don't think is true jade) seems to appear in many carved pieces so I can't imagine why it wouldn't turn well. Sure would love to see an entire pen of NZ Greenstone!

It depends on who you talk to as in NZ they say that greenstone is the same as Jade. But I think that is an opinion.

I have seen entire pens made with NZ Greenstone and they look great but they are all slimlines. Plus, they can cost a lot.

I was thinking about incorporating Greenstone into a wooden pen as a gift for an artist friend of mine but I need to find some way to drill it.

I was also thinking about doing the center band in Greenstone as then I would not have to try a glue the stone inside the wood.
