Anybody ever make one "American Style" pen, the make an "American" pen - - only to discover that the center-band tenon on the second kit is thicker that the first kit?

Both kits were from Woodcraft, and their web page brings up both instruction links on the same page with the model number.
luckily, I was able to recover with some creative part/insert making.

Also, the "American" pen (mdl 142410) was a bear to put together at the last step. I don't look forward to that one running out of ink.

Made a few of the flat top American kits when I first started and will never buy one again. At first I thought it was just newbie mistakes then figured out it was just as much problems with the kit as it was inexperience. There are so many nicer kits available its just not worth it to waste time on these.
