Instructions I received tell me to seal the wood with polyurethane first. This prevents CA staining. OK

My question: I finish my pens with lacquer. Can I use lacquer to seal the wood verses polyurethane.

thanks for the answer in advance.

thank Lou

I was enjoying your new web site. Looks good! Sent you a private email about wood! Enjoy the weekend.

How close are you to Washington DC. In miles? my son lives there and was thinking about visiting him on a long weekend.

I agree. I just want to add that if you use CA as a finish over polyurethane...well I tried this on a half dozen pens and 5 of 6 became cloudy and nasty looking about 2 weeks later. Don't think I tried CA over Laquer yet.

Bill,
I do inlay and mix it will CA to glue it in, but I haven't ever sealed the wood before gluing it in place. I do finish it with CA to help hold the inlay in place. On pens that I am not doing inlay I do other finishes, but have found with the inlay the CA really helps maintain the integrity of the inlay.
