I recently turned an Diamond series holographic blank. I would like it to smooth with a lot of depth. Right now it feel a bit rough even after polishing. Does anyone have any ideas?

Can you post how you turned and polished it? Carbide or skew? Sandpaper grits, MM, buffer? As much detail as possible.

I turned the blank with 1/2" gouge and skew, then sanded to 1,000 grit,applied plastic pen polish, buffed it with blue rouge and polishing wheel.

I turned one a year ago - I had to put a CA finish on it - the wet sand/micromesh/polish route didn't work. I sanded it to 600 grit sandpaper, then built up CA, then finished that. It looked really good after that.

Thanks, I think I will disassemble and try the CA finish, I am not comfortable putting it on market this way.

I have found that the Genesis blanks, from the same source, also require the CA finish if one wishes to have a truly smooth surface.

I findthat any blank with added stuff in it will be a bit rough to the touch and need CA to be totally smooth.
