I am thrilled with the outcome of this NT Designer pen using hickory I purchased from Menards hardware store. A 48 inch by 2inch, 3/4 inch board was less than $4.50. I brought it home and cut it into 16 , 6"x 3/4" blanks. This made each blank cost only .28 cents each. I love the rustic look and it costs nearly nothing per blank.

Visiting my sons in Chicago, I have also bought at Menard's board length's - up to 5' or 6' I believe.

They had 3-4 varieties, nothing incredible, but for the price - It was a gread deal. I believe I got some nice Mahogany, Walnut and Maple.

Very nice finished pens.

Didn't you do a BEAUTIFUL JOB! :) And what fun to get such a nice deal on that wood! My husband and I went to a hardwood liquidator store today and for $45 we came home with an incredible variety and amount! Acacia, walnut, oak, hickory, birch, teak, and a bunch of others. I really should have written the names down, but it was a steal! :)
