I need help identifying this wood

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this if not sorry in advance.
Could some one help me in identifying this wood? I got a chunk of this in a box off of ebay that was mostly Cocobolo. The wood about the same hardness as cocobolo. I thought at first it was a type of Oak but after sanding and finishing I am not so sure. Thanks for the help.

Have you tried asking the individual you bought it from?
Looks a little like some mahogany or rosewood I've seen.

I have and he wasn't sure what else was in the box besides cocobolo

It actually kinda looks like cocobolo, just from a different part of the tree.

My guess would be either cocobolo or some other dalbergia relative like Honduran rosewood, Amazon rosewood, etc.

But what do I know - see signature below...
