I have always thought of myself as a pen turner, not an acrylic/resin/acrylester turner, but I decided to try just for a bit---turning this other material. I bought several blanks and all went well except for te inlace. I am not sure what inlace exactly is but, after turning it, the inlace has lots of very small holes. It also did not shine up as well as the acrylic.

Give me beutiful rich, figured wood any day.

Is there something I should have done to the inlace?

Best solution is a coat or two of medium CA (depending on the size of the voids) . Sand down , repeat if necessary . Should also cure the shine problem , although I don`t know the cause of it . Otherwise - go for the garbage can solution !

I've done several inlace acrylester pens and they really are beautiful, but difficult to work IMO. To avoid "pitting" use scary sharp tools and take light passes. It takes a lot more time (and honing) but looks great.
