How to get Lazer cut Texas star into the blank?...

So I have some kits from Lazerlinez with the Texas flag. I tried to make one but the star that was in there had it's corner broke. So when it turned down it was "gone". So I'm trying to put together the next one and I'm trying to get the star in there but it's... not exactly fitting.

There must be some technique or something?... I tried the soapy water but it still seemed like I would have to force it, but I don't want to break the star.

Anyways, what I'm trying now is to put the star in the freezer and maybe that will shrink it a little.

My next step will be to sand down the blue part of the flag to maybe it will help the star slide in.

I have found that when parts are tight fitting just flip them over. The laser cuts seems to be cut on a slight angle. Maybe just me but it seems to work. I hope this helps.
