This is oak from a tree that was taken down during last wind storm. Very wet. Hopeing I get some good blanks out of it. Should I cut it up first and then let it dry or let it dry and then cut it up. Also how do I cut it. I have a 6" band saw and a 10" contractors saw.

Cut it up as soon as possible. Green wood cut easy. Cut it a little over size. I cut about 1"x1" and it is almost 15/16 dry. Stack loosely and weigh it down so it doesn't warp.

Oak is one of the easiest splitting wood there is. I would use some wedges and pop those sections into wedge shapes. Spit along the radial ray fleck lines and you can get it to smaller sizes quite quickly. End coat right away.

That looks like it's going to be fun to turn. I admit that I've split, chopped and burned my share of oak "back in the day" but that might have some really cool figure. Good luck and show us what you end up turning! [:)]
