Help to find pen tubes

I'm searching to find a tube between the 7mm and 8mm. I want the tube to fit snugly around the 7mm tube.

I want to try my hand at something that Russ Fairfield posted last year here

I bought the classic american tubes that he mentioned in the post but they were too sloppy. Also he alludes to them being two differents length and all of the lengths were the same so I am not sure I got the correct thing.

Any help would be appreciated.

I would start someplace like MSC. basically you are looking for a tube with an i.d. of 7mm.

Try a 5/16" tube from hobby stores. Depending on the wall thickness, they will fit around a 7mm tube.

I did try the 5/16 tubes from a hobby store, they were too sloppy. I also tried a variety of other sizes from the hobby store and nothing worked.

I ordered some with an id of 7.1mm last night. We'll see how big .1mm is.

If you can it find one try an aluminum shaft arrow. They are getting harder to find as they are being replaced by graphite but a shaft size of 2218 should work.

2218 is too large for a 7mm tube, but possibly 19/64" (i.e. 19xx)shaft would work.

0.1mm is just a very thin hair smaller than 0.004". Should be a nice fit.....about the thickness of a piece of copy paper.
