Help with Classic pen tenon/center band

I ordered and have mande several "Classic" pens from PSI. I am having trouble getting the center band glued on the tenon without getting glue on my already finished cap. Any suggestions to help with the glueing or to get the glue off without having to use skew and refinish? Thanks in advance for advice.

Try using a dab of epoxy or locktite instead of CA. While the epoxy is still tacky, it can be cleaned off the finished blank without sanding or tooling. And even if you wait to long, it still cleans off the finish easily.
